Get funky attracting wildlife around your garden pond

There are so many types and designs of homes for wildlife creatures, which can be purchased through various gardening related websites and garden centres. But, why not get creative and make your own funky design. A great idea is to get a few old decaying logs and stack them on top of each other to make an interesting feature while also making a home for a variety of insects.  To make it more specific to the likes of lady birds, bees etc., place a number of hollow dried sticks into the centre of a decaying log.more

If fallen autumn leaves makes the garden look too untidy or are concerned that they will blow into your pond (fallen leaves or other plant debris need to be removed from water surface on a regular basis before they sink and add to the debris at the bottom of the pond), then rack them up and use the leaves to create a home for a variety of creatures. This can be done by using a rectangular piece of garden wire mesh rolled into a cylindrical shape. Secure the sides with garden twine, stand up right and push in the dry leaves. Secure a plank of wood onto to stop it from blowing over. And there you have another funky home for insects and other invertebrae.
Have fun and perhaps you have some inexpensive ideas for encouraging wildlife to your garden and pond you can share with us.
