PVC Liner
Description
PVC stands for ‘poly vinyl chloride’ and is a watertight 0.5mm thick, black sheet used for lining ponds. PVC is a lightweight material best used for smaller installations such as ornamental garden ponds as it is very flexible and moulds well around corners and shelves. It is not very elastic however, and needs to be fitted carefully as it will not stretch into small gaps and crevices.
PVC is not easily repaired as it has a tendency of going brittle when most liner repair products are used on it. It will crack in these areas over time and leak again.
It is UV resistant but will go brittle and crack if exposed to the sun over a period of time therefore correct installation and maintenance are essential.
