Fish pond liners
Installing a pond is greatly rewarding
If you are going to have fish in your pond, then concrete pond liners are not recommended. Concrete liners release a toxin into the water that is lethal to the fish. Concrete liners will work perfectly if you are just interested in plants in your pond.
Using the correct material when creating your own fish pond is very important, because you need to keep the water from draining away as well as care for the plant and animal life you may add once your project is complete. When creating your fish pond, there are several steps that you need to follow, but we will be focusing mainly on the laying out of the fish pond liners.
After you have dug your hole for your fish pond and made sure that the edges are level, it is time to cover the hole with the pond liner. First, unroll the liner and lay it out in the sun to heat it. This will make the pond liner more flexible and easier to install. You may want to put down a layer of sand about two inches deep in the bottom of the hole before installing fish pond liners. The sand will help with drainage.
Then, lay a protective underlay. This is used to protect the liner from being punctured by sharp stones, rocks, roots and other soil debris. Lay your liner in the hole, positioning the liner until it is correct. Fill your pond with water and cut away the extra liner. Using these tips, it should be very easy to lay your fish pond liners.
You are now ready to add fish to your fish pond. Remember to feed your fish 2 or 3 times per day, but only feed them as much as they can eat in a couple of minutes as overfeeding can cause illness to your fish and poor water quality if the old food is allowed to sit in the water for extended periods of time.
